Lazy Lake Sunday

Yesterday we spent Mother's Day at the lake with my parents. This was our first trip to the lake this year! My family has had this house since before I was born (almost 30 years) so the lake is my home. I know the winding road that gets up there like the back of my hand, so when we arrived yesterday it was the breath of fresh air that I needed!

We quickly knocked the pollen off the boat, loaded the cooler and went out for a ride. Typically I would have greased up with oil and laid off the sunscreen, but I am trying my best to protect my skin - especially my face - and not get burned this summer. I don't want to wind up with little white sunspots in November.
There is one section of the lake that leads back to beautiful natural shoals! However to get back there is like going on safari and we call this little section the "African Queen Cruise"!! Unfortunately the water level was just a little too low and we had to turn around.

After cruising we came back to the dock and just hung out for the rest of the evening. Steven and my dad were feeding the fish with some stale bread and they both spotted some BIG catfish and carp! Up the steps they head for fishing gear and low and behold Steven caught FOUR fish
Needless to say, someone was pretty proud of himself!

It was nearing time to go (and I didn't want too!) so I snapped a few pictures off the edge of the dock...

I typically say that St. Simons is "Gods County" but I think Lake Hartwell was giving SSI a run for its money yesterday! I cannot wait to get back on Memorial Day weekend!! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend :)
