A Praise and A Prayer

Hey y'all! Happy Hump Day! Today I come to you with two things: a praise and a prayer.

Praise:

I know who I'm going to be selling real estate with! Yesterday I received a brokerage sponsorship!!!!!!!!! Last week I had an interview with an agency in town and about halfway through the interview I knew that this place was for me! I met with the President/Head Broker and the Sales Manager yesterday and the meeting went well! Pretty much the best meeting/interview I've even been on because I got the job I wanted in the end! :) I will share all of the info later, I first need to pass the state boards in a few weeks!

Prayer:

Yesterday afternoon I got a call from my mom in TJ Maxx and I knew something was wrong. She calmly asked me to come home. I dropped all my goodies and ran out the door. Apparently a valve malfunctioned in the toilet of their master bathroom and flooded one side of the house and caused the ceiling to drop in the basement. ON TOP of my dads 1974 Camaro that was stored in his "showroom" in the basement.

It's bad y'all. You see, they left home on Friday night and headed to the lake, so we have no idea just how long the water has been there....

I stayed at their house until about 9:30 and ServePro was there until about 11:30pm. Currently my parents are meeting with a contractor, insurance adjuster and ServePro as I am typing this. Luckily, my parents are able to live in the house during this time. They believe that it was caught quickly enough that no mold growth began and the environment is safe to live in. Their master bedroom furniture was sitting in about 2 inches of water and the water made it way into the guest room as well. Not quite as much of it, but enough to have all carpets ripped up. The hardwoods have started to bow and they are worried about the tile in their bathroom.

My mom's staging room in the basement was partially flooded, however her decor room with all of the christmas/fall/add'l decor and other miscellaneous items was flooded and my dads showroom is basically ca-put.

In a short 6 weeks my parents are taking an 18 day Alaskan trip. They are already worried about timelines and projects etc. etc. In the grand scheme of life, this is just a "bump" but that doesn't make it any easier to get over. My mom is incredibly sensitive to smells and she is already fearful that the house will take on the "smell" it currently has and she will never be able to get over it.

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the next couple of weeks. It is going to be rough on them!

  1. Oh I feel so bad for them, your dad's car! I know how water damage can wreak havoc, as it did in my rental. Ugh. Prayers.
